Beth Shank-Fodrea wins Lilly Fellowship!
Congratulations to our Work-Based Learning teacher Mrs. Beth Shank-Fodrea on winning a Lilly Endowment 2023 Teacher Creativity Fellowship. The Endowment selected the 2023 fellows from a competitive pool of applicants. Indiana K-12 classroom teachers, principals, assistant principals, school counselors and social workers, media specialists and librarians, and instructional coaches are eligible to apply for program. The grants fund renewal projects that educators design to help restore their commitment to the education profession. Each fellow will receive a grant of up to $12,000 to fund personally and professionally meaningful activities.
Mrs. Shank-Fodrea’s project is titled “Oma Beth’s Homestead Preservation Project” and was inspired by the book series “The Foxfire Book.” Her goal is to explore a simpler, more self-sufficient homesteading life and share the experiences with her grandchildren and others. When asked about the win, she replied, “I am thrilled to be able to further pursue homesteading. I have researched techniques, tried some small-scale projects, and planned larger projects for many years. The Lilly Fellowship will allow me the means to immerse myself in the homesteading culture.”
